Welcome to LS Youth Baseball Registration Summer 2021!

Links to the forms are at the bottom of this information page, please read all the text below before registering.

LS Youth Baseball offers several summer baseball opportunities:  Bay State Tournament of Champions and The Jimmy Fund Little League Program, as well as Lou Tompkins and Minuteman for older players.

Bay State Tournament of Champions:  is a highly competitive travel league with 3-4 games per week plus practices.  To be eligible for Bay State players must be Little League age 9 –12 (their age on April 30, 2021.)  This is an intense program which requires a high level of commitment from both players and their families.  Bay State players will be expected to take no more than 10 days of vacation from June 21 – August 15. Preferably, no vacation should be planned at all during the last week of June and during the Tournament of Champions, which is the second week in August. Any player with a travel commitment or vacation plans must make the tryout evaluation team aware of their vacation plans. Vacation plans must be identified on the Bay State registration form.

Please note the age groups below relate to the grade your player is CURRENTLY in:

BayState A: Current 6th Graders – Coach: Russ Hornbeck

BayState B: Current 5th Graders – Coach: Marc Spector

BayState C: Current 4th Graders – Coach: Frank DeTraglia

BayState D: Current 3rd Graders – Coach: Pete Condon

Registration Fees

All players who register for Bay State will pay a registration fee as follows: $650 for A and B; $500 for C and D.  Please note that no child will be refused a spot on the team due to financial reasons. If a family needs relief for a fee, then that family should simply contact LS Youth Baseball. LS Youth Baseball keeps all requests highly confidential, as on the league administrator and president are included in the decision-making process for relief, and no supporting information is requested to make such decisions.  If your child is not placed on a Bay State team, then he/she will be placed on a Jimmy Fund League team and refunded the difference in the registration fees. All past due accounts must be paid in full in order to tryout.

Tryouts for Bay State 2021 will be on Saturday, June 5th.

Lou Tompkins “C”         Current 7th Grade Only Coach: TBD

(Please arrive at 5:30 to warm-up).

Registration Fee for Lou Tompkins B: $450

Registration Fee for Lou Tompkins C: $650.  The increase in fee for LTC is due to the cost associated with hiring a coach.

All past due accounts must be paid in full in order to tryout.

Minuteman

Minuteman Baseball will run a Summer Minuteman League for current 7th – 9th graders.  This league will be comprised of teams from the same towns as the Minuteman Spring league.  It will provide an opportunity for players to participate in a less competitive and more informal level of play than the Lou Tompkins program.

Games will begin the week of early July with games being played on Monday through Thursday nights. The schedule is a 12-game schedule (2 games per week).  The single elimination playoffs will begin on in early August

There are no tryouts for this team and selection will be based on player availability during the summer and the order of receipt of the application forms.

Registration Fee: $250.

Jimmy Fund

Jimmy Fund is a league for those who are interested in playing competitive and fun summer baseball but do not want the commitment of Bay State.  There is no assessment and players are placed on balanced teams.

Teams play against other LS teams, and against teams from surrounding towns.

The season will start with a week of practices the week of June 21st.  After the first week, the schedule consists entirely of games, all of which occur on weeknight evenings.  Games are expected to start the week of June 28th and run through July 30th

Unlike the LSYB spring season, the minors and majors divisions are inter-grade.  The younger players in a division can improve by playing against older, stronger players.  For the older players in a division, they have an opportunity to be the leaders on their team and set an example for their younger teammates.

The divisions and schedules are as follows:

Jimmy Fund Farm - Current 1st Graders.  One event per week, coach pitch, typically held on Wednesday Nights.

Jimmy Fund Farm – Current 2nd Graders.  Games will be held Monday and Thursday nights.  All games will be at 5:30 or 6:00.

Jimmy Fund Minors - Current 3rd and 4th Graders.  Games will be held Tuesday, Thursday, and alternate Friday evenings.  Most games are at 5:30 or 6:00, but some Featherland games will be at 7:30 under the lights.

Jimmy Fund Majors - Current 5th and 6th Graders.  Games will be held Monday, Wednesday, and alternate Friday evenings.  Most games will be at 5:30 or 6:00.

The majors division will play games on the 50/70 field.  This provides continuity for the players that have played on the 50/70 field in the spring, and provides an introduction to the larger field for the 5th graders.

Registration Fee: $185.

MANAGERS AND COACHES:  All persons wishing to manage or coach must fill out a combined CORI/Coach Application Form.  By submitting this form, you will be agreeing to permit LS Youth Baseball to perform a CORI check.  CORI checks are required for all persons volunteering on behalf of LS Youth Baseball.  The application/form can be completed on the LS Youth Baseball website by clicking on the tab at the top that reads “On-line Mgr’s and Coach’s Application”.  Or click on this link to go directly to the form:
